To connect your thermostat or air treatment smart devices to the SmartHome app, you’ll need a compatible Wi-Fi setup. Here’s what to know before setting up your device(s).
Basic Wi-Fi Requirements
Network type: 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi (required)
Security type: WPA2 (WEP is not supported)
Connection type: Home networks only — enterprise or captive portal networks (e.g., hotel or university Wi-Fi) are not supported
Signal strength: Strong, stable Wi-Fi signal near the thermostat or smart device is recommended
⚠️ Not Supported
• 5 GHz-only networks
• Mesh networks
Tips for a Smooth Connection
• Place your router near your thermostat/device during setup
• Restart your router and thermostat if setup fails
Need help checking your network type?
Most routers label 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks separately. If unsure, try renaming them with completely differently names (e.g., “HomeWiFi_2G” and “MyHouse_5G”). You should be able to do this in your router settings or by contacting your Internet Service Provider directly.
